This ace badminton player, who was born in Udupi and now lives in Bangalore, was the first Indian to win the All England Open Badminton Championships in 1980. In addition, he was ranked No. 1 in the world in the same year! He began playing at an early age, claiming to have played his first official event at the age of seven in 1962. He currently manages the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy and the Olympic Gold Quest after coaching the national badminton team from 1993 to 1996.
